A new treatment following suit, Surrogacy is common among many couples.
Using a Surrogate Mother: What You Need to Know
First of all let us know, about the term surrogacy- it is when another woman carries and gives birth to a baby for the couple who wants a child.
It is of two types-
- Full and partial
- Full Surrogacy
It can also be called Host or gestational, full surrogacy happens when the embryo is placed in the womb of the surrogate mother.
The embryo can be created by any of the following methods:
- Both eggs and Low Sperm Count Treatment belong to intended parents.
- An egg which is donated is fertilized with the sperm of intended father.
- When the embryo is created by both donor eggs along with sperms.
Partial Surrogacy
It is also known as straight or traditional; this involves artificial insemination or intrauterine insemination, using sperm from intended father an egg from a surrogate.
Since I spoke about celebrities also, having babies from surrogacy, let’s quickly see some of them.
The very famous director-producer, Karan Johar ( or K Johar) as he is called by all) became a single parent to twin boy and girl duo through surrogacy, along with Tusshar Kapoor, who also become a single parent to a boy, again through surrogacy.
Now let’s see what the Indian laws have to say about the same.
India has fast gone as a leader in international surrogacy and has been in the topmost list of fertility tourism.
The business of surrogacy in India, along with is blooming by heaps and bounds
After Tusshar Kapoor and Karan Johar opting for becoming single parents, laws have changed, according to new laws, single men, women, gay couples all banned to opt for surrogacy.
 Some of the guidelines indicate:
- Any payment being made to women opting to be a surrogate mother is prohibited.
- Surrogacy for singles and persons of Indian origin is also not possible.
- Only a blood relative is eligible to be a surrogate.
- The women who opt for becoming a surrogate mother should be married with kids of her own.
Cost
Surrogacy cost in Punjab is not very high. Many people from different places come here to get it done.
In the end, I would like to conclude by saying that, many people are concerned about Indian people who wish to take surrogacy, the reason being that Indian’s are badly paid for this treatment, and also that they are working as surrogates in a nation with a high rate of maternal deaths.
The high maternal rate is mostly found among poor women who cannot afford basic food items, so it is out of the question that they survive pregnancy, which requires a diet rich of all nutrients, and mostly poor women only come forward for surrogacy.
